As we head towards 2021, we want you to look even further into the future with our newest Contest based around Cyberpunk and the gritty, futuristic World that Cyberpunk represents! Explore endless possibilities of futuristic cities with the Cyberpunk theme and as you look to the Neon lit future for inspiration, we want you to show us what your Cyberpunk vision looks like!
There will be some amazing prizes up for grabs and some really fun directives and briefs for the Contest to keep you on your toes and excited about what you are creating! Make sure to get involved and join the entire community of Artists around the world as they bring futuristic worlds to life.

Get involved with our Facebook Community group and Discord Community! Upload your work in progress, comment on each other’s work and encourage each other in the spirit of learning and improvement. We have some extremely successful and talented artists in the Community who are stoked to help critique, suggest and help in any way they can so come on over and be part of something amazing! WIP's, Progress Updates and Freebies
Over the course of the Cyberpunk Contest we will be releasing Free Images, Assets, Free Credits and Tutorials for those of you who are uploading WIP's and progress updates to help keep you motivated and inspired and will be providing a tonne of educational content and help through Live Streams and Feedback sessions so make sure to follow our Social Channels to stay in the know! Each week we will be bringing you something new to unlock by uploading a progress update/WIP and there will be a super special secret Bonus to unlock if you unlock all of the Freebies during the duration of the Contest!

Deliverables
- One still image — 1,920px on longest edge minimum. E.g. A landscape should have at least 1,920px width, portrait should have minimum 1,920px height.
- One composite sheet containing the photo's and elements used for the final design.
- Layer Breakdown GIF to show the image creation process
- Work-in-progress artwork to show how your image was created.
- Post on Artstation with the MattePaint Contest Hashtag and Logo.
- Posted to the MattePaint Cyberpunk Contest Page and Submitted as a "Final"
Judging Criteria
Images will be judged on creative, narrative and technical aspects. Successful images should combine strong composition and lighting with an attention to photo-realism and a high technical level of finish.

Challenge Rules
By entering the Challenge, You ("The Artist") accept the rules outlined below by MattePaint.com ("The Organizer").
Important Dates
- Submissions open: 16th November 2020
- Entries close: 12th December 2020
- Winners announced: 14th January 2021
- Dates mentioned are at 11:59 PM on the date in question.
- All dates are based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
Eligibility and Restrictions
- Artists must be a member of MattePaint.com to participate (registration is free)
- Participation is limited to individual artists. Group or Team entries are not eligible.
- Submissions must contain MattePaint.com resources or include the resources set out in the challenge brief, if any.
- Must not contain Photobash.org materials (see this article for more information)
- Your submission must have the MattePaint contest logo applied (download here)
- Participants must be of age of majority (18 years or older)
How to Enter
- Artists must submit an entry to the Challenge system here on MattePaint.com to be reviewed by our judging panel. Entries not submitted to this website will not be considered.
- If submitting for a contest or challenge requiring weekly updates, each week requires a new update in order to be eligible for the final prize.
Entries
- Entries must be new artwork created specifically for the challenge and not impeach on another's copyright
- All entries must have at least 1 WIP submission in addition to the Final submission.
- No professionally commissioned work can be submitted.
- Final work must be at least 1920px wide or high.
- Submissions must have the MattePaint contest logo applied (download here)
Deadline and Rights
- Late entries will not be accepted.
- The Organizer reserves the right to remove any entry for any reason and without notice.
- Entries that do not meet the requirements may be deleted. It is the full responsibility of the Artist to make sure they adhere to these rules and individual contest requirements.
Judging
All entries will be judged by our judging panel or by the community where outlined in the challenge brief. Judging criteria differs from challenge to challenge but as a guide, submissions are based on:
- Accuracy of submission to the outlined brief
- Overall Composition
- Technical execution
- Overall Presentation of submission
Judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Artist Guarantee
The Artist guarantees to The Organizer that:
- The submitted artwork (images, videos, 3D models, etc.) were made by the Artist.
- All Work is original and that you have the right or authority to enter and publish.
- All details submitted by the Artist are true and correct, and the Artist indemnifies The Organizer from and against any and all claims and demands made against The Organizer, its assignees or licensees, in relation to the guarantees provided by the Artist in these rules.
General
- The Organizer will not be liable for, and expressly excludes, liability to the Artist for any loss, injury or damage which results directly or indirectly from participation, including the breach of any third party intellectual property rights.
- The Organizer accepts no responsibility for entry submissions not received for any reason.
- Submitting to a challenge constitutes consent to The Organizer and any Challenge Sponsors, the right to use all entered materials in any media for sales and marketing material. The Artist retains the copyright of entered materials and are free to use said materials for personal promotion. The Artist will be notified whenever possible of any inclusion in media and be credited.
- Winners may be required to complete an interview with the The Organizer or Judges for promotional material and to confirm the eligibility of the Submission. Failure to complete the interview may, at The Organizers sole discretion, result in disqualification and the next highest scoring Submission selected.
Sponsor Prizes
- Prizes are non-transferable. No cash or other substitution may be made.
- The Contest Sponsors will send prizes directly to winners in a timely manner at the completion of the Contest.
- If a nominated prize is unable to be to provided to the winner, The Organizer reserves the right to supply an alternative prize of similar monetary value.
- The Organizer will not be liable for lost items in post. Items sent through post will have tracking and insurance, and where lost, an alternative prize of similar monetary value will be provided.
Disqualification
- Any content submitted by third-party vendors, educational facilities or studios are ineligible and will be removed. The Organizer reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to remove, modify or suspend any related content on the site.
- Any media deemed to contain content that depicts explicit acts that are overtly violent, sexual, cruel or brutal will be disqualified. Such entries may, at The Organizer’s sole discretion, be closed at any time during the event.
- Employees of The Organizer and Contest Sponsors are not eligible to enter.
Agreement of Terms
- Participation constitutes The Artists' full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Rules, our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
- By participating, The Artist is representing and warranting that he/she has read and understood and agrees to be bound by these rules Including the guides and rules referred to herein, these Rules constitute the entire agreement between the The Artist and The Organizer in relation to the Contest/Challenge and supersede any prior or other agreements between The Artist and The Organizer.
- In no event will The Organizer, affiliates, subsidiaries and related companies, advertising or promotion agencies or respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents, be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from access to, or use of, this web site or participation in this contest, even if The Organizer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Please post questions in the Discord Community, Community Group or email Competitions@MattePaint.com. We’ll do our best to address and clarify questions there.
❔ Where Can I get Feedback on my Ideas, WIP and concepts?
Post your WIP's, ideas and concepts to the MattePaint Challenge and Contest Platform as well as posting in the Discord Community and Facebook Community Group. Posting your WIP's, progress updates and ideas to your profile on the Challenge Platform is the best way to display your progress and receive feedback and help from our Team, Mentors and other MattePaint members!
❔ Can I win prizes without a paid subscription?
Yes! An active subscription is not necessary to be eligible for the prizes.
❔ Can I use my own images or images from other websites?
You can use images from other providers or your own images but Matte Paint images must make up the main components of the image.
❔ Where do I ask about technical problems or feature requests?
If you encounter any technical issues, please contact us at support@mattepaint.com. or post in the "Help Center" in our Discord Community. Please provide as much detail as possible when reporting issues — provide a URL to the problem, screenshots and even video if possible. Thanks!
❔ Can I submit multiple submissions for the contest?
Yes! You can submit as many times as you like, however we encourage you to focus on making one image as good as you can during the time. Art is not a sprint, take your time. Give it love.
❔ Can my design be based on an existing IP?
No. Your design should not infringe any IP’s rights.
❔ Can a team participate in the contest?
No. This contest is for individuals only. We’re looking into running contests for teams in the future. Let us know if you’re interested!
